CT Brew Fest

Sample brews from around the state at Thursday's Connecticut Brew Fest at the Old State House in Hartford. Admission is $45 (21+, of course) and includes beer-tasting and entertainment from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

This Memorial Day Weekend

The Grand-AM GT Classic revs all weekend long at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville.

The Greater Hartford Bonsai Society is holding their annual show at Elizabeth Park in Hartford on Saturday and Sunday.

McCulloch Farm in Old Lyme is hosting an "Open Barn" Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Visit the horses and learn more about them.

This Weekend: Freddie Fixer, Greek Fest, and Spring on the Farm

The 45th Annual Freddie Fixer Parade marches through New Haven at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The parade starts at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Morse Street and ends at City Hall.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport is holding its Greek Festival and Fair on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to to 11:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Stamford Museum and Nature Center presents "Spring on the Farm" on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event includes sheep shearing, wool spinning, blacksmith and milking demonstrations, crafts, and music.

This Weekend: Happy Mother's Day

Berlin Fairgrounds is hosting a Mother's Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival on Sunday from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $5.

Moms get into the Beardsley Zoo for free on Sunday. (But they do have to bring kids with them.)

Meet the Artists and Artisans runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday on the Milford Green. Admission is free.

This Weekend: Flowers

This has been an excellent weekend for flowers. Everywhere I go, daffodils, tulips, and flowering trees are in bloom.

Get up close with plants and flowers at one of CT's garden attractions.

Elizabeth Park in Hartford offers several events through the spring and summer including the May 19th Plant Sale and Horticulture Show, Rose Weekend on June 23rd and 24th, and frequent tours.

The Connecticut College Arboretum in New London has a diverse collection of native and exotic plants on 750 acres of preserved space.

The grounds of the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington were carefully designed to create English estate-style gardens that blended into a working farm. The museum's website tells you what's in bloom.

Eleven CT gardens will offer programming on Connecticut Historic Gardens day on Sunday July 8th this year.
