More Hiking and Biking near Boston
My brother was asking me last night, where he could go hiking a short ride from my parents? He is visiting from DC, and although grew up here, isn't well versed on the area. I decided to do some research and found some smaller lesser known areas perhaps for a short walk or hike on the South Shore. I found that all three locations allow Mountain Biking as well.
Turkey Hill
While I have ridden by the sign on 3A in Cohasset many times, I never knew what was there. After a little research, on the trustees of reservations website, a good reference for many of the reservations in the state, I found out that Turkey Hill is co-managed by the towns of Cohasset and Hingham and its summit offers views of Cohasset Harbor along with an old building left as a remnant of the Cold War. Another Place to mountain bike on
the south shore.
Wampatuck State Park
My friend Jordan recently pointed out that I had made a big mistake by ommittin Wampatuck State Park from my list of places to mountain bike. It has miles and miles of trails that can be easily walked on or biked on, and as he pointed out, stroller friendly.
World's End
This reservation also listed on the trustees of reservations webpage offers dramatic views of Boston Harbor. It is comprised of three hills and beautiful walking trails. It costs a $4.50 donation and you can take dogs on leases or mountain bike here if you wish. It truly does feel like "World's End"
