Westport Rivers and Buzzards Bay Brewery

This past weekend I decided to get away from the city and head south. After a drive through the beautiful towns of Marion, Mattapoisett and Dartmouth, we ended up in the gorgeous town of Westport. I can't say enough for how idyllic it is here. Quaint, quiet and breathtaking.

We meandered down off Rt. 88 to Westport Rivers Vineyard and did some tasting of some sparkling wines that they are known for.

For $5 we were able to sample five different wines and received a complimentary flute. We strolled around the grounds and saw the Arthur Moniz landscape exhibit, which was fantastic. Westport Rivers has the feel as though you are being welcomed into someone's home. They offer dinner and wine pairings throughout the summer including a kayak and wine tour.

About a 1/3 of a mile down the road from Westport Rivers is Buzzards Bay Brewery. Travel down a long winding driveway to a barn with an iron buzzard on it. Enter for a complimentary beer tasting.

It appeared as though the brewery was under renovations, but it made the pit stop no less enjoyable. We ended up going home with a "growler" a jug of draft beer for the bargain price of $8.

The whole trip felt like a mini vacation.
