All Good Things Come To An End

Well Fare and Frequent Readers...the end has come - my badge stating NH Blogger has been taken off and put away for a rainy day,... I wish you all good luck in your Granite State travel, and hope to bump into you sometime in one of my favorite NH haunts...thanks for reading, writing and passing me along...I bid farewell with a fellow NH liver, lover and traveler's words...

You're searching...
For things that don't exist; I mean beginnings.
Ends and beginnings - there are no such things.
There are only middles.

Wine and Chowdah at Moulton's

IMG_5128.JPG

Our lives are just full of circles if we ever can remove our shells and venture into a new one once in a while. And so it was for me and a friend last week visiting a wine tasting at Moulton's Market in Amherst Village. I hadn't been to Moulton's since the late 80s and to my surprise, the store wreaked of small town success thanks to new ownership. What used to be a store of convenience now boasts a wall of wine choices, local produce, killer deli and a lovely wine tasting to greet its traffic every Thursday night from 4-7pm. Starting again today is the shop's infamous soup bar, boasting 10 soups a day, and its own special soupline for inquiries - 603-673-4663(GOOD).... Blowin' Smoke this Sunday the 16th

ashtonhorizontalA.jpg

Twins Smokeshop celebrates its 10th Anniversary this Sunday from 12-6pm in huge fashion. Since its opening in 1997, it has been drawing in the biggest cigar aficionados and now it's time to celebrate all that hard work with BBQ, live music and wine! Thought you were just going in to buy the best Cuban or the Never-Let-You-Down Ashton, look again and spot the Malbec staring at you in the corner, or the Green Mountain coffee wafting overhead, then go get yourself some BBQ!

Tickets including cigar are $45, and tickets for BBQ are only $25! Jeff Pitchell and Texas Flood will be jammin', while door prizes are named and fingers are licked. Oh, did I mention it's BYOB - so fill the cooler and off you go!

10 Can't Miss NH Happenings in September

You just know this is my favorite time of year - when you can feel the cold mornings under your feet and al fresco dining in the warmed evening...love it. It also happens to be the time of year when there is so much going on all over this state...it's like NH tries to celebrate the coming of autumn with fests and feasts. So here goes...

10. If you like tape and paper...

9. If you like piglets, ox pulls and fry dough......a MUST

8. If you care about Downs...an annual must

7. If you've got a thing for the Scottish...

Last Reminder to Sail That Old Box to Stardom!

OK, so I have to remind you one last time that Merrimack, NH's annual Cardboard Boat Race, to benefit the town library, is being held at Wasserman Park Saturday September 8th from 10am-4pm. Starting at 11 in the morning, continuous live entertainment, raffles, face painting, sand castle contests and a book sale will keep the entire family afloat [ha ha!] for the day.

Red Sox Playoff Tickets Raffle!

images.jpg

Thursday September 6th, the Etz Hayim Synagogue in Derry, NH has figured out how to raise money for its building fund - raffle off Red Sox Championship Series Tickets! Brilliant! The winner of the raffle will get two front row seats in the center of the visitor's dugout for the first game of the Red Sox vs. ? Championship Series. For a measly $25 each, or 5 for $100, you can buy yourself a chance to witness their 2007 victory [no I am not being presumptuous] [Photo courtesy of NY Times]

Contact Laurie Medrek, Treasurer 603-432-9352 or email at Medrke9352@aol.com for this incredible opportunity.
(In the event the Red Sox do not make the playoffs, the winning ticket will receive $500 - still not too shabby!)
