Don't Forget the Rockin' Rib Fest This Weekend!

What are the chances that the Rib Fest falls on the very weekend we leave for North Carolina!? This is the one event that tells my kids that June is officially here, that summer is right around the bend...even more so than the end of school. Waking up this morning, the boys and I were talking about how exciting it was not to have to get ready for the bus, and of course this comes next..."Now we can get ready for the Rib Fest!" I knew it was the weekend we left, and I avoided all other inquiries about when it was, because I couldn't deal with the heartache and tears. Quickly I blurted out, "For some crazy reason the Rib Fest is this weekend, WHEN WE'LL BE ON THE BEACH IN NORTH CAROLINA WITH ALL YOUR COUSINS CATCHING GHOST CRABS." I waited and watched...no response, just glazing over eyes, and then they said in unison, "When are we leaving for North Carolina?"

Let me know how it was this year!

2 Wanna Know Wha'ts Wholesome in the Lakes - Try These 5 on for Size!

Kimberly,
I'd appreciate your recommndations for hotel/inn accommodations for a wholesome family vacation in the Lakes region. I have a 4 year old boy and want something close to home (I live on the Mass/NH border), so we don't have a long drive. Would prefer a family friendly atmosphere with plenty to do for kids and adults. Something with meals inclusive would also be very helpful. We are vacationing in August. Thanks for your help!
Lisa

Hi Kimberly,
Do you have any suggestions for a place to stay in lakes region in Northern NH that is family oriented or kid friendly? We are looking for places to stay with our two year old.
Thanks. Tracey

Hi Lisa and Tracey!
Thanks for writing. Enjoy your stay at the Lakes and be sure to let us know where you stayed and how much you enjoyed it! Keep in touch!

Get Your Skull Cap On - It's Bike Week!

[Seems like I just wrote about this!] Open up the trunk, find those leather chaps, spider web jumpsuits and leopard print skull caps...June 9th-17th marks Laconia's 84th Annual Motorcycle Week! Despite the obvious, that this event is for bikers, despair none, because there is nothing obvious about this infamous NH event! In my veteran opinion, Motorcycle Week is much more a people watching scene than a search for the 'best hog' venue. So try and blend in with some black, leather or tattoos and join the thousands that show up for biker fun! Prepare for bikes, chrome, crowds, lines and even some old school bar room brawls!

I'll have to stick with last year's recommendations...and if you're making them now, pray real hard for any vacancy any where north of Concord and south of Plymouth!

Where to stay:

Black Fly Season?

Kimberly

I am about to begin a week long vacation in Moultonboro on Lake Winnipesaukee. Is it Black Fly season there now? How bad is it?

Thanks
Jessica

Hi Jessica -

I highly doubt the black flies are still kicking around, even up in Moultonboro...think positive, you're going to gorgeous Moultonboro!

Have Fun!

Now This is Planning Ahead!

Kimberly -

I cannot seem to access the ski free NH - 5th grade program. I am very much interested in the details as I have a 5th grader.

Thanks
Karen

Karen -

Half of me is wondering if this is an old email that never sent?! But anyway, if you are the planner this assumes you to be, here is the website for that information...let me know if you have any problems accessing this site.

Thanks for writing!
